About Us

Twisted Sunset Sisters Fiber Mill, owned by Ellen Hartstack and Savannah Scheufler, is a small-batch mill in Perry, Iowa. We closed on our building in Perry in May 2022, and our Belfast Mini Mill equipment arrived in January 2023! After a whirlwind of practice and preparation, March 2023 marks the official start to the mill accepting orders.

The owners – Ellen and Savannah – have been best friends since kindergarten – and are practically sisters by now. Together they bring their friendship, passion, and unique set of experiences to the mill. They are delighted to be joining the fiber community members who share in their love of many different fiber arts.

Ellen brings with her the knowledge of hand-processing the fiber from her small alpaca/llama farm (Sunset Creek Farm). She started her fiber arts journey in middle school learning how to crochet, then knit, and has now progressed into weaving, spinning, and more.

Savannah, through nearly a decade working in non-profit marketing, brings to the mill her expertise in marketing and communications, as well as a passion for hand-dyeing yarn, knitting, and all things related to the fiber industry. Like Ellen, Savannah’s fiber “journey” has progressed over the years, from crochet, to knitting, to dyeing her own fiber.

Our perspectives, as both consumers and producers of the products we create, will help us guide you and your farm through your selection of our services in the milling process.
